Black Hills Spruce (picea glauca 'densata') Beautiful ornamental evergreen with bright green to bluish green needles. The black hills spruce is dense, conical in shape, and ideal for windbreaks or screens. Grows well in our area, but rarely offered at local nurseries.
Usually slow growing to approx. 60' to 80' tall with a 20' to 25' spread.
Black Hills Spruce grow between 6" and 1' tall per year at this size depending on the soil and weather conditions. Black Hills Spruce can be trained to a pyramid shape and become more dense by pruning their branches while not budding in the spring.
