Austrian Pine (a.k.a. black pine) (pinus nigra)
Very hardy, withstanding city or seaside conditions, heat and drought, and clay and alkaline soils. The austrian pine is a beautiful pine tree and good windbreaker. Grows fast and dense with long dark green needles.
Usually medium to fast growing to approx. 60' to 80' tall with a 30' to 40' spread.
Austrian pine grow between 1' and 2' tall per year at this size depending on the soil and weather conditions. Austrian pine can be trained to be more dense by breaking their candles (new growth) in half while budding in the spring.
