About Chester County Trees

Chester County Trees is located in Chester County, Coatesville (East Fallowfield), Pennsylvania.

Chester County Trees advantage: when you purchase our evergreen trees you get fresh dug Chester County grown evergreen trees, not just trees dug from anywhere weeks or months or even a year ago! Even better, all of our evergreen trees are growing and thriving in our ground and climate allowing them to easily adapt to their final destination in our area.

We love planting, growing, and caring for evergreen trees. Tree farming is not work for us, it is our hobby, nature, and in our DNA to grow evergreen trees. We take great pride and care in planting each and every tree. Every day of hard work feels like a reward after looking back to see the consequences as the seedlings transform into mature, healthy, and beautiful works of art!

We plant and grow primarily evergreen trees for sale to local homeowners, tree landscapers and tree nurseries. All of our evergreen trees are purchased as seedlings (or small transplants) from quality and certified nurseries and are carefully nurtured by us over the years to be sold as healthy, beautiful evergreen trees. In addition, we grow weeping willow trees, maple trees, burning bushes, lilac bushes, forsythia bushes, blackberry bushes, and raspberry bushes for sale in small and large quantities.

In our experience with evergreen trees, the most disease, insect, and deer resistant, durable and desirable evergreen trees for the Chester County and central east coast area are the spruce evergreens. The spruce evergreens such as black hills spruce, colorado blue spruce, norway spruce, serbian spruce and white spruce offer a variety of colors and appearance and growth rates from slow to moderate to fast growing evergreen trees. Nonetheless, all other evergreen species we grow experience little or no disease or insect problems and certainly blend well in the Chester County landscape and appear to be in great demand.

Note: Chester County Trees grows and sells healthy evergreen trees. We do dig, burlap wrap and wire cage the ball, but we do not deliver or plant our trees. You must arrange for the transportation (delivery) and planting of the trees. We are able to recommend a local tree planting company for you or upon your request. Our obligation to you and guarantee includes only the sale of healthy dug trees and ends at the point where you pick up or arrange to pick up your trees. Tree pickup, transporting, delivery, planting, staking, mulching, watering and all aftercare is your responsibility.

Evergreen trees, like all plants and trees, should be dug and transplanted in early spring or fall (preferably fall) == transplanted shortly after dug for the ultimate and best result. Early spring transplanting will affect the new growth that is expected during the spring months and requires periodic watering over the dry summer months, but is otherwise a good time to transplant evergreen trees. Of course the longer evergreen trees remain in the ground, the more full and strong they will become and remain. We like to dig and plant trees the same day or within a few days to avoid tree shock! Trees dug and set aside for weeks or months is not best for your tree!

Would you prefer to purchase your evergreen trees from a nursery of trees that have been shipped from another area and lying around for weeks or months out of their native soil or from a local tree farmer and field where the trees remain in the ground and are dug and transplanted the same day or a few days later? Which trees do you think are most likely a better choice for your trees?

In general, most evergreens grow a few inches per year the first year and two years, about six inches per year in the third and fourth years, about one foot per year in the fifth and sixth years. Thereafter, they grow much faster until they near maturity and begin to grow moderately. Except, they usually grow at a slower (or very slow) rate the first year, or even two years, after moving them until their root system is re-established. With most evergreen trees (or any plant) after moving them, the first year they sleep, the second year they creep, the third year they leap. Evergreen trees produce substantial new growth in spring and some growth throughout the summer months.

Evergreen Tree Pricing (estimate)
A general rule of thumb for tree pricing is $20 (faster growing) to $25 (slower growing) per foot per tree. The price per foot is negotiable depending on the quantity of trees available or purchased. Digging the tree and wrapping the ball in burlap and a wire cage ready for pickup is included in the tree price. Tree pickup, transporting, delivery, planting, staking, mulching and the like are separate charges payable to the tree planting company of your choice or use our preferred tree transplanting associates.

Evergreen Tree Pickup, Delivery, Planting (estimate)
A "tree planting" company will usually pickup and deliver your evergreen trees for about 0% to 5% of the cost of your trees up to 25 miles one way. They will usually plant your evergreen trees for about 40% of the cost of your trees. They usually charge extra for tree staking, mulching and the like. Staking is recommended for larger trees in high wind areas and mulching is recommended in areas that might remain dry and hot for long periods. They usually require a 5 to 10 tree minimum depending on the size of the trees. Their fees are usually negotiable depending on quantity, site conditions, and distance. Figure about 40-50% of the cost of the tree to pickup, deliver, and plant the tree.

Note: Chester County Trees is not responsible or liable for any third party services or disputes after the trees are removed from our field.
